What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga therapy is a holistic approach to healing and well-being that uses a combination of physical and cognitive techniques, tailored to the individual, to overcome the specific health challenges they are facing.
 
While a typical yoga class may involve a number of elements from yoga asana (postures) to pranayama (control of breath) and meditation, Yoga Therapy may also draw on further aspects from Ayurveda and modern healthcare such as physiotherapy, physical training, deep-tissue massage, reiki, nutrition, and exercises that manipulate the parasympathetic nervous system to recover and maintain optimal function of the body’s systems.

Is Yoga Therapy for me?

Yoga Therapy is for anyone who would welcome support or guidance when trying to manage health issues or simply improve their health and well-being. 
 
Yoga Therapy can help, whether you are…
  • Recovering from an injury, illness or surgery and would benefit from continued support once medical care comes to an end

Tailored Yoga Therapy Sessions & Programmes...

For best results a series of one-to-one sessions is recommended, exactly how many and what they will involve in terms of the types of therapies employed will be determined during an initial free consultation (20-30 mins over phone or in person). 
           During this time, we will not only assess your challenges and goals, but also establish what you need so that you feel supported in your health journey.  We will discuss the types of exercises and techniques that are available, as well as recommended number of sessions, duration and frequency, all the while taking into consideration what is realistic and achievable for you in terms of time, effort and cost.
 
Due to the equipment and space required most sessions will take place at the Amulet studio in Le Riols Bas.  However, sessions in your own home may be possible depending on the types of therapies involved.
