What to expect...
With no more than 6 people in the group, the workshop will be a fairly intimate affair, set to boost confidence whilst keeping the atmosphere light-hearted and enjoyable.
The session will begin with a short introduction into the philosophy and benefits of meditation before moving on to look at the techniques used. We will explore a series of short guided meditation exercises to help gently build your practice. Anapanasati, a Buddhist form of meditation that focuses on the breath will form the core of the workshop; however if time allows we may also explore other styles such as the Metta Bhavana. You can find more information about some of the different styles of meditation on the main meditation page of this website.
The workshop will include meditations in both seated and supine positions which will typically be performed on the floor. Yoga mats, meditation cushions and blankets will be supplied to ensure optimum comfort but chairs are also available for those who would prefer.
In between each exercise there will an opportunity to relax, take refreshment, discuss your experience and ask questions. The workshop will last somewhere between 1 ½ hours – 2 hours. At the end of the session you will be provided with some resources to support you as you establish your own personal practice.
