How to prepare for a Zoom Yoga Class
Apologies if these instructions seem patronising, they are written to advise those who are not accustomed to attending online events on a computer, tablet or phone :-)
What you need…
Setting up Zoom on your device…
You don’t need to set up a Zoom account to participate in the class, but you do need to have the app installed on your device.
It only takes a couple of minutes to install but please do this well in advance of your first class as there will be limited time before the class to resolve any issues.
If the Zoom app is not already installed on the device you are using you can download and install it by clicking on the following link https://zoom.us/support/download.
Alternatively, if you have already booked a class, you will find a link to join the class on your booking confirmation, if you click on that it will prompt you to download and install the app.
Booking and paying for a class...
To be able to facilitate Zoom classes you will need to book and pay for the class in advance by using the booking system on my website.
Details of how to book and pay for a class can be found on the Book & Pay webpage where you can access the booking system.
If you have any issues with booking or payment, contact me at [email protected]
Once you have booked a class you will receive a confirmation email with a link to join the class on the day
On the day of the class...
Make sure that you give yourself plenty of time you get your yoga space set up and your device ready to launch the Zoom class.
The class will start promptly at the scheduled time so you will need to join the meeting at least 5-10 minutes before. The class will be open 10-15 minutes before the start time. I'm sorry but latecomers will not be admitted as I will be too far away from the laptop used for filming once the class begins. If you know you are running a few minutes late you can text me and I'll try to wait for you 06 47 21 01 02
What you can expect in during the class...
If you have any questions or concerns, or you experience any problems whilst getting set up please contact me by email at [email protected] on by text 06 47 21 01 02 and I will arrange a time to call you.
What you need…
- Device (laptop / iPad) with internet connectivity and large enough screen so you can easily see the yoga poses being demonstrated whilst you are on your yoga mat.
- Yoga mat or other comfortable non-slip surface that provides some cushioning.
- A reasonable amount of space, infront / behind / to the side of your mat.
- If possible, position your mat with the short end facing the screen, or at a slight diagonal so you can see the screen when you face the front or side of your mat.

- Once you have your yoga space set up, turn on your device
- Check that your webcam / camera and microphone are turned on.
- Then go to your internet browser to access the class meeting in one of the following ways
- By clicking the link in your confirmation email, the zoom app will open
- Go to Amulet’s website and on the Zoom Classes page, click on the Meeting ID under the class you are about to attend
- Open the Zoom app on your device and enter the meeting number manually. The Meeting ID will be the same for each class week-by-week, so you may want to make a note of the number to make it easy to access
- Once you have done one of the above, a box will appear with << Launch Meeting >> click on that
- Your webcam will be activated and you will see yourself onscreen
- A box will also appear asking you to << Join with computer audio >> click on that
- You will be put in a virtual waiting room from where you will be admitted to the class. Please don’t worry if it takes a wee while to be admitted, I will be in the process of admitting and briefly welcoming other participants.
- Once I admit you, I will chat to you for a few moments to check that you are comfortable with your set-up, a note here: everyone already admitted to the class will be able to hear you, so if you have any personal information please contact me before the class.
- I will then ask you to mute your microphone, which you can do by clicking on the microphone icon at the bottom left of your screen.
What you can expect in during the class...
- Once everyone has been admitted to the class, the class will begin
- It is important that my microphone is the only one that is active so I will mute the microphones of all those attending the class. If you do need to speak to me at some point, you can unmute yourself
- The class will proceed much like a normal studio class with me demonstrating most of the sequence, I will at times leave you in a pose whilst checking the screen to advise of any adjustments you may wish to make.
- At the end of the class I will leave all microphones muted encase anyone wishes to have a longer peaceful savasana
If you have any questions or concerns, or you experience any problems whilst getting set up please contact me by email at [email protected] on by text 06 47 21 01 02 and I will arrange a time to call you.
